The schedule for VCPA crime prevention training courses for 2011 is shown below. The training courses are grouped into three categories to help individuals choose courses based on their particular training needs: Community Outreach, Professional Development and Supervising Crime Prevention.
The fee for the Basic Crime Prevention course for VCPA members and representatives of in-state law enforcement and government agencies is $95 per individual, per course. For all other individuals not falling in either of the listed categories, the Basic Crime Prevention course fee is $250.
A course registration fee of $50 for all other training courses, unless otherwise stated, for VCPA members and representatives of in-state law enforcement and government agencies. For all other individuals, the course registration fee for all other training courses is $75 per training course. Participants are responsible for their travel, meals and lodging costs while attending training. All training conducted in Virginia will be approved for DCJS law enforcement in-service credit and may be applied to the Crime Prevention Specialist training requirements. All training registrations will be processed by the VCPA. After the VCPA receives a course registration, information about the training site and lodging will be sent to course registrants
Seating is limited for all courses. Organizations are limited to five training slots per course unless prior arrangements have been made with the Executive Director. As the date of the course approaches, additional training slots will be offered to organizations wishing to register additional individuals, if space is available. Please do not call the listed training academies to register for training courses. Remember that this training is in great demand. If you sign up for a training course but must later cancel, please notify the VCPA at least five working days prior to the course. This will allow us to offer the slot to another person. Failure to cancel registration will result in a $25 course cancellation fee.
PCPP - Private Crime Prevention Practitioner Training
The fee for private security professionals registering for VCPA training courses that will qualify for certification as a Private Crime Prevention Practitioner is $75 per day (set by DCJS). The fee for VCPA Corporate Members applying for PCPP training is $50 per training day for the first five (5) individuals registered during a calendar year.
